[MacPerl] excel workbook parser

I've searched in CPAN for a module that will break up an excel workbook
into it's component worksheets to no avail. , The
spreadsheet::parseexcel modules by Takanoriare still alpha and the
disclaimers for reliability scare me. Does any one know of a good method
to automate this task? Even an excel script would be welcome.
