noted the information regarding the origins of certain file info, 
lets not throw the baby out with the bath water, what you suggest is 
fine as long as you are moving files Mac->Mac. The poster was talking 
about windows being involved too.

it can't because it wasn't designed to give functionality beyond the 
UNIX command of the same name and as far as I know Unix ftp doesn't 
have a MacBinary option : )

they can be pulled out of the comments DB using the appropriate 
toolbox call and set into the JPEG file itself, which is slightly 
less platform dependant. In fact it would also be possible to save 
_all_ of the file info as an internal JPEG comment to be accessed 
later for whatever one would wish to have the original file info for.
