Haven't posted in a LOOONG time!
My most recent job was as a Outsourced "Rent-A-Minion" working for the
Mail-Abuse Prevention System. Alas, my entire department got RIF'd several
months back. One of the problems with fighting spam is that few people have
the time, energy, or skill to manually parse mail headers to determine who
to send complaints to. Existing automated methods (see spamcop.net) have in
my experience to great an error rate (up to 50%). Several ISPs refuse
complaints from spamcop.net BECAUSE of the high error rate.
Over several years of operating mycoinfo.com (now defunct), I've collected
more than my fair share of spam. The problem with my archive is that it's
not in a standard format, easily parsed by Perl. I need (before I begin) a
way to get the email (with full headers) out of Outlook Express, and into
some standard unix-like format.
Once that's accomplished, I believe there are some modules extant which can
help the process along.
Does anyone know how to get mail messages OUT of Outlook Express? (mail me
off list). Anyone interested in HELPING with the project? (also mail me
