I will sometimes save a MacPerl script as a compiled AppleScript. I wrote a "p2as" droplet that uses Mac::OSA::Simple to create a compiled AppleScript; it will make the AppleScript either 1) call MacPerl with a perl script on disk, or 2) embed the text of the perl script in the AppleScript and call call MacPerl with that.
