After further testing I realize that "print $0" works correctly when run directly from MacPerl. When run from Alpha's "Save And Run" menuitem in the MacPerl special menu it yields "<AppleEvent>". I also checked this on an older Mac running MacPerl 5.2.0r4 and the same behaviour was exhibited. Sorry for the false alarm. David Seay http://www.mastercall.com/g-s/
