Thanks for your feedback. However Axel Rose has found a big hole in 
the logic and will be posting a note about this.

Thank you for the reference which I'll follow up with interest. I 
think 'getting a few lines' would probably need quite an extensive 
script. Generally those few lines are likely to be encoded in one of 
three ways and I don't know myself how one would go about decoding 
LZW (for instance) in MacPerl. In addition there are the 
complications of dealing with linearised and non-linearised pdf 
files; to say nothing of all the things I haven't even thought of.
