I think there are plenty of good sources for learning Perl regex--just about any decent instructional book covers spends an adequate amount of time on just regex syntax. What seems to be missing (although I admit I haven't been keeping close tabs on new Perl books), is a "practical application" guide to regexes. Although "Data Munging with Perl" may fit that bill--I haven't seen what it covers to know. Perhaps a handy-dandy cookbook would be useful. In my experience though, I rarely re-use regexes, as each problem seems to require unique solutions. But who knows? Chat with O'Reilly and maybe you can get a book published.
