Michael Kuyumcu replied: > I'd use the program "File Buddy". For most invisible files, File Buddy changes visibility in either direction just fine. However, I have observed that for some files that are critical to the operating system, Mac OS does not permit certain actions to be taken. Onn Mac OS 8.6 when I tried using File Buddy 6.13 to make (operating disc):Temporary Items visible, it went through the normal actions as if it were changing the visibility, and afterwqrd it was no longer marked as "Invisible" by the File Buddy information window. HOWEVER, it still wasn't visible in the window for hard disc where it lives! I think (operating disc):Temporary Items is one of those very special files that Apple protects by hidden means. I have encountered this before for a very small number of sensitive-looking files. The file (operating disk):TheFindByContentFolder:TheFindByContentIndex, where Mac OS 6 keeps the Sherlock content index can be made truly visible, but Mac OS always turns it invisible again very rapidly. (The containing folder, however, will still stay visible if changed.) The method suggested by Chris Nandor looks to me like the only suggestion so far that is likely to work. -- Joseph B Kruskal [EMAIL PROTECTED]
