That's all well and good, and now I completely understand why it's happening. But it still doesn't solve the problem I have of making an extremely simple Perl script append a single time of day/date stamp on the end of a file every time the Mac is booted.
I looked for RuntimeBuilder, but the archive search facility was toasted. Repeated error messages stating that a search conf file couldn't be located. Repeated emails to webmaster and archives at bumppo.net both yielded bounced messages.
Did you try asking Dr. Internet?
