[MacPerl] macroman to iso

I have a huge database of files coming from a pc and I have 
to work on them on a mac, somewhere in between i have to 
clean the files for the mac application that'll be reading 
them. But before I start looking for stuff, I'd like to change the 
character encoding from iso to macRoman (it's mac 9). I'm 
using MacPerl, and I'm trying to find a script that would take 
care of this first step of the process. Any suggestions will be 
welcome.
