As the check does not complain with Quicktime 7.1, i think it's
obsolete and superfluous.
Well, seems that the check should complain with every version above
7.0.3:

So there is a bug in the workaround, nice.
The ticket is way too old, someone should fix that, no?
I've rewritten the check in pure tcl and replaced the darwin 8
makefile patch by a single reinplace -E.
Should i commit these?
