I don't think that's true with Subversion. It's more than possible to
demonstrate the changes between tags or cite specific changes by URL.
Branches don't even really exist in subversion as far as that's
concerned, they're just another type of tag.
Actually, it's better to think about tags as a type of branch where you
agree not to make commits on the tag after you create it.
