Even though (IIRC) some of the GSoC work is still "unhooked" from
the main code (defaulting to off in the code and/or lack of autoconf
hooks), deferring it to 1.6 is my current inclination. I'll work with
this mindset until recommended otherwise, which I would openly accept.
