You are correct. /opt/local/bin/python2.6 -c 'import numpy; numpy.test()' failes in the same way as http://projects.scipy.org/ /pipermail/numpy-tickets/2008-September/002329.html py26-numpy compiled and worked for my limited needs. That is as far as I had gotten.
