I have only tried to use two of the newly-installed ImageMagick tools
(I am running X11 on a powerpc running osx 10.5.6).

convert appears to work more-or-less OK
           but at least one problem:
              convert file.eps file.png
added a gray background (this doesn't happen on a linux
           system where I use "convert")

display has at least two problems:
           1. every time I start "display" on my mac, I get a warning
Xlib: extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display
              "/tmp/launch-ogw8t2/:0"
although .pdf images appear to display OK
2. when I try to look at a xxx.eps or xxx.png image that should
              have a white background,
I instead see a checkerboard background

I don't know if these are ImageMagick bugs, or the result of
some problem with the install process.

For these issues, I would recommend writing to the ImageMagick bugs mailing list, and supplying the input and output files.
