Are you talking about pure darwin? Apple has repeatedly said, including in the WWDC 09 keynote, that Snow Leopard will be for Intel only, so for our target audience of Mac OS X users we don't need to worry about this. For the hypothetical powerpc pure darwin 10 users, I think it's fine for now if they have to change the universal_archs manually.
