This doesn't seem like a good idea. What if the user uses MacPorts X11 in
${applications_dir}/X11.app instead of Apple's?
It also doesn't seem necessary because Leopard and later automatically open X11
for you when needed, via launchd magic.
For Tiger, there's "open-x11", but I'm not sure if it would know to handle
MacPorts X11 (but that might be ok since Tiger is becoming not so relevant).

You should use the notes command here, instead of ui_msgs.
