Correction: I semi-flamed you for "snake oil" and revisionist history, not for not making specific mention or RPM. 'Twas a long time ago ... Meanwhile, yes: you never really created *.rpm packages of any use. The issues were/are largely that MacPorts confuses build dependencies with install dependencies. These are different dependency graphs even when the install and build machine are constructed from the same binary packages.
