pretty much the whole point of MacPorts is that it enables us to store the
'recipe' for building software. Once someone figures it out, it can be shared
with everyone so that we don't all have to fix the same problems.
I would recommend you just use the subversion port.
If you run 'sudo port -dv install subversion', you'll see what MacPorts does to
build and install subversion (and all of its dependencies).

You possibly have a mismatch between the apr that your configure script is
finding and the apr that subversion is linking against.
