The cocoa variant on the other hand is newer and gives real native OSX GUI support, and does work well for me. X11 is really not used (although again for perverse reasons the build/install dependency is still there at the moment. Hopefully will be fixed some time …). I cannot though reproduce your failure. I also am keen to get cling working, but this is still very very experimental and I haven't managed it yet. I test the variant each time but so far it still fails ….
