You don't need to handle the universal and non-universal parts separately; you
can use the [get_canonical_archflags] procedure to get the correct -arch flags
regardless whether the universal variant was set or not, provided you define a
universal variant before the first time you invoke get_canonical_archflags
(even if the universal variant is empty).
