Curious; I was aiming for warnings, instead of errors.
Were you installing the +mactex variant?
{{{
sudo port install latexml +mactex
}}}
That's expected to give a warning about violating the macports
filesystem layout, *but* the 2nd message should have said that
it was installing style files in mactex's directory, and thus outside
macports --- I was hoping that message would be reassuring! :>
It seems to have printed the default 2nd message. But looks
like it installed correctly. If you run
{{{
kpsewhich latexml.sty
}}}
it should show where it installed latexml.sty. Should come
back with something in texmf/...../latexml.sty
If so, everything should be fine.
Thanks for the commit, folks!!

Ok. Well it seems to install, with warnings. Thanks to one and all.
{{{
Warning: violation by /usr
Warning: LaTeXML violates the layout of the ports-filesystems!
Warning: Please fix or indicate this misbehavior (if it is intended), it
will be an error in future releases!
---> Installing LaTeXML @0.8.0_0
---> Activating LaTeXML @0.8.0_0
LaTeXML works best with some version of TeX installed. Please consider
+texlive variant, or PRE-install MacTeX and use +mactex variant.
---> Cleaning LaTeXML
---> Updating database of binaries
---> Scanning binaries for linking errors
---> No broken files found.
