I doubt there is anything of value left in doc/. The FAQ is in the wiki and the guide lives in doc-new/guide/. The new help system [1] also makes doc-new/man/ obsolete already. We should keep in mind that the post-commit hook updating guide.macports.org needs to be adapted when renaming this directory.
