I was about to write the same. I would also like to propose that pull requests should always be merged using the "Rebase and merge" option, in order to keep the master branch as linear as possible (see https://help.github.com/articles/merging-a-pull-request/ and https://help.github.com/articles/about-pull-request-merges/#rebase-and-merge-your-pull-request-commits).
