Help wanted: devs with access to a 10.6 (or earlier) box

Could somebody with access to a 10.6 (or earlier) box test if this 
builds successfully?

Unfortunately, I don't have access to such a box and I need to figure 
out if the upstream fix that I incorporated into the above PR solves the 
build issue on old boxes (or uncovers any new ones). Upstream is waiting 
for me to report back.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
