base master and editing commands

Basic editing commands don't work in shell mode.

 macports-base $ port
MacPorts 2.4.99
Entering shell mode... ("help" for help, "quit" to quit)
[Code/macports-base] > syncc^H^H^A^E^K

Fortunately ^U works.

I haven't found an issue in the tracker.
