I disagree with this: macports isn't not a repository of dead things and does do software development. If the upstream is dead and does not provide distfiles, we should not either. The obvious case where this matters is what happens when there are security issues or bug fixes that need to be written. Should we should just maintain patch files indefinitely with no place to submit them? -- Eitan Adler
