I don't think so. Workspaces didn't exist when that portgroup was designed.
I see only one port trying to use a workspace manually: poedit.
It would be great to have support for workspaces (and automatically setting the
derived data path -- the other thing poedit does manually (along with a lot of
other ports) -- see https://trac.macports.org/ticket/57137) in the portgroup.
