No, the emacs port contains only the command line version of the
stable release. For GUI windowing, you should install the emacs-devel
port with the x11 variant:
port uninstall emacs
port install emacs-devel +x11
I believe that there were a lot of problems with 21.4 and X11 on Mac
OS X, but the devel port contains a working version. See <http://
trac.macports.org/projects/macports/ticket/4210>.
