All,
So after blundering around this seems to be the way to do it on Intel
sudo port install wxWidgets
edit the Portfile to include
configure.ldflags -L${build.dir}/lib
sudo port -f install wxWidgets
which then works
sudo port -f install py-wxpython
voila all seems to work
I am not sure of the reasons for the various problems but the
installation of previous versions and some fink interaction may have
been contributors. Having a G4 working definitely helped me debug.
