gedit 2.20.0 has been released

It is breaking on another issue which is the one that I am really trying to solve. I am not about to get version 2.16.2 working, but will replace it with a working 2.20.x when the breakers on that are solved.

gedit is the official text editor of the GNOME desktop.

This is the first release of the new stable series that will be part of
GNOME 2.20.

gedit now depends on gtksourceview 2.0 and thus features much improved
syntax highlighting and support for style schemes.

you may be well aware of this and the fact that gnome its self is now @ 2.20, but just in case your arnt......

Sorry about giving that erronious advice. Let's try this instead:

1) sudo port gst-plugins-good install
2) sudo port gnome-bindings-suite install
3) sudo port gnome-session install
At this point you will have a minimum working GNOME (it will complain about missing parts, but you can click through that)
4) sudo port gnome install
5) The failure message contains a line reading:
Error: The following dependencies failed to build:... and a long list of ports 6) Manually install each failed dependency. Note that there is a bug in the build process of a number of gnome-based ports that I am trying to work through... 7) Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you are at the point where all ports listed are known to have failed. 8) This is the most complete way to install a mostly complete GNOME while I work on fixing it.

Try "sudo port -p install gnome" that should install every gnome dependency that builds right now. It will give you a (mostly) working gnome installation.

Aehm, no, that did not work:

sudo port -p install gnome

Ok. Actually, I encountered this problem when I tried to install gnome (sudo port install gnome). So, in the meantime, Is it possible to install gnome without gedit?

This is a known situation and I am working towards solving it.
Unfortunately, I do not have an ETA on a working gedit port.

I got the about the same result, except that the ERROR 1 occurred during the build of gcalctool.
