Generally, the best would be to file a ticket, attach your patch, and make sure you list the package maintainer ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) in the ticket cc. That should take care of it.
Since you already cc'ed the package-maintainer, this should take car of it. You might wanna send him the patch as well, that reduces his work.
