I did a port sync followed by a port upgrade outdated today and the
upgrade for perl5.8 worked.
house54 4 # sudo port upgrade outdated
---> Deactivating perl5.8 5.8.8_0
---> Installing perl5.8 5.8.8_1
---> Activating perl5.8 5.8.8_1
---> Cleaning perl5.8
