I had the same problem when I tried to do an upgrade of ffmpeg
recently. I got in touch with the maintained who suggested first
uninstall or deactivating the old port.
Sure enough, just doing deactivating then doing an install of the new
port worked fine. Some piece of the new build seems to be finding the
old piece around and causing a problem.
