If you have done:
sudo port install mysql5-devel +server
Then, to switch from mysql5 to mysql5-devel, do this:
sudo launchctl unload -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/
org.macports.mysql5.plist
sudo port deactivate mysql5
sudo port activate mysql5-devel
sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.macports.mysql5-
devel.plist
