What version of Xcode are you using? 3.0 or 3.1?
What version of MacPorts do you have? 1.6.0? trunk?
What version of gcc42 is being built?
Finally, what port are you ultimately trying to install that's
requiring gcc42? gcc43 is the current stable version of gcc so we
should make it possible for those ports that currently require gcc42
to use gcc43 instead by default (while still allowing gcc42 to be
used via a variant).
