And that bug is not marked as fixed. Though I thought for sure we had
fixed this in trunk already.
No, it was fixed on branch release_1_6, not on trunk. On trunk there is
still this test with /etc/paths.d, which turned out that it doesn't
work. I think we should simply revert the changes to postflight on trunk
and merge back the changes from release_1_6.
