But it only makes sense if you use it on all ports, that means you
should add +universal to variants.conf. This will build all ports with
multiple architectures and gives you a consistent set of ports.

If you choose +universal only on a few ports you would be mixing and it
is going to fail if the dependencies have not been compiled universally.
