The logs will wind up in the "vendor" specified places. The data is on your "data" volume.

For further "goodness" you should specify --innodb_file_per_table and keep the InnoDB tables from all "magically" winding up in the same file!

Is innoDB really that binary a decision? Its been a while, but I used to decide based purely on need of transactions.

However, I don't imagine the large amount of storage space I would need to hold all those data logs innoDB needs has gone away.

There was also some maintenance of those logs, as they grow and grow.

I've never had performance issues with MyISSAM, and never really had to clean up after it. It still is not the default engine is it?

I've got a few large databases, adding a GB a day now, willing to convert them, but will have to start some pretty serious research. We already have a hard time keeping up with the data, and are looking towards Amazon and all the other providers of database in that cloud thing I hear about.
