Sorry, ImageMagick cannot be built universal when you use the +gs variant, because as you've noticed ghostscript does not have a universal variant. If you want ghostscript support, don't use the universal variant. I could add "universal_variant no" to the gs variant only. But the existing error message is clear enough about what the problem is, no? It places the blame correctly on the ghostscript port. Anyway, I'd rather the ghostscript port be fixed to have a universal variant. *That* deserves a bug report.
