I hope you mean /opt/local; installing MacPorts in /usr/local is not supported. Please remove the wget distfile with the incorrect checksum: sudo port clean --all wget Then try again: sudo port install wget If it still fails, send us the output showing what mirror the distfile got downloaded from; Re-read the FAQ for more: http://trac.macports.org/wiki/FAQ#checksums You could also check the distfile that got downloaded: is it a valid compressed tarfile? Or is it perhaps an HTML file telling you something? (If so, what?)
