Thanks Scott, got the web browser help working now from the settings you gave me. I installed macports from the link on Gimp.org to macports.org . Trying to make it work for the sake of completeness but also for screen space and quickness really, esecially now I'm learning to use Gimp, just a quick screen reminder to quickly remind me of tool actions etc.

Yea tried that already Scott, it comes up with "the gimp help browser plug
in appears to be missing from your installation"

And you have "Help browser to use" set to "web browser" and "Web
browser to use" set to "open %s"? Those settings work for me. This
is with "Use a locally installed copy"... the web browser just opens
file:///opt/local/share/gimp/2.0/help/en/index.html which is installed
by gimp-user-manual.

You did install the macports version of gimp and not the version that
someone linked to from gimp.lisanet.de right?

I also assume that at this point you are trying to make this work for
a sake of completeness (which is fine), since you can just visit
http://docs.gimp.org/2.6/en/index.html in your browser to read the
help.
