The last version of mesa 7.6.x worked fine on Tiger; it's what I still have 
installed on my Tiger machines. I see you have 7.6.1 installed, so I suggest 
you just stick with that for now, until such a time as someone figures out 
what's wrong with 7.8.2's build.
