Hi to all, I'm completely a newbie in the world of "code", but I would like to ask here (where the dreams become project!!!) some information and (when possible) an Help. First of all sorry for my really bad English!!!!
I have a mac (not real, I have not enough money!!) on my great (but old) notebook: HP NC6400 (intel version) running SL 10.6.7, Windows XP, and Ubuntu 11.04. All works fine without problems. I would like to know if it could be possibile to enable the fingerprint scanner under OSX. I know about UPEK Truesuite/protectorSuite for OSX, but the driver inside the app is designed ONLY for 2 or 3 last USB stick with Thomson CHIP on board. Mine is an old (extract from Everest) Device Properties: Driver Description AuthenTec Inc. AES2501A Driver Date 28/08/2007 Driver Version 7.9.0.4 Driver Provider AuthenTec, Inc. INF File oem25.inf Hardware ID USB\Vid_08ff&Pid_2580&Rev_0623 Location Information Fingerprint Sensor Under System Profiler it has recognized correctly as: DeviceID: 0x2580 (9600 in Decimal) VendorID: 0x08FF (2303 in Decimal) Because it's not possible to modify UPEK TrueSuite (not open-source), seraching in Internet I have found only one post of a man that "recompile" fprint (for Linux) and fingerprint GUI under OSX 10.5.6 with a great success. He wasn't able to integrated all for OSX boot Authentication (something related to /etc/Authentication). For reference I post the link to the mailling list http://www.reactivated.net/fprint_list_archives/2009-January/001047.html HERE Other link are: fprint project: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/fprint HERE Fingerprint GUI: http://www.n-view.net/Appliance/fingerprint/index.php HERE Under Linux Ubuntu 11.04 the FingerPrint GUI works really great on the HP NC6400. That's all I hope to find someone interested on this "dream" and could make some experiment. I will be glad to test ALL Sincerely Regards Patrick -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/Is-it-possible-Fingerprint-GUI-on-OSX--tp32340708p32340708.html Sent from the MacPorts - Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ macports-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.macosforge.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/macports-users
