I didn't know about "port edit", I will give it a try. The
downloadable from eric4 home page doesn't include SVN so I may have to
use that if I can't get the Mac Ports version working.

Of course you could "sudo port edit eric4" and remove the py26-svn dependency.
Not sure what implications that would have, or if eric4 would even build without it.
