Sounds like this construct:

version [lindex ${docbook-xml-versions} [llength ${docbook-xml-versions}]-2]

which was added to the docbook-xml port in r97547 when it was unified, may not 
be compatible with the old Tcl 8.4 that's in Leopard and Tiger. Please file a 
bug report in our issue tracker.
