Just as a quick follow up to this, I did indeed run selfupdate at end of
play last night & it followed its normal pattern i.e. it didn't attempt
to run a full port index just the normal (truncated):
`sent 64 bytes received 636 bytes 280.00 bytes/sec
total size is 512 speedup is 0.73
---> MacPorts base is already the latest version
The ports tree has been updated. To upgrade your installed ports, you
should run
port upgrade outdated`
