Not 'mac binary' but a Mac binary.  This is an already compiled binary of an 
application that is ready to install.

There is now a Mac OS native version of gimp that doesn't require X11 or 
XQuartz:

http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

(MacBinary is an old file-transfer format.)
