Hi there! I'm the maintainer/original author of htop, a terminal-based process viewer ( http://hisham.hm/htop/ ). A fork of it is available in MacPorts as `htop`.
Over the years I've been getting a number of bug reports from Mac users, even though the only port of htop to the Mac I've seen are derivatives of AndyA's fork, which is based on 5-year old code (version 0.8.2). Unfortunately, that port was done stripping the Linux-specific code and replacing it with Mac-only code, so it was never in a state that could be easily merged back. Now that I moved development of htop to github ( http://github.com/hishamhm/htop ), the bug reports from Mac users are more and more frequent. It's unfortunate that they often refer to things that have already been fixed. So, if you're using htop-osx and getting crashes from time to time, you might be running into bugs that should have been gone long ago! Since I'm a PhD student in Brazil and I have little free time to maintain the main Linux codebase, I usually take on freelance jobs. This time however, I thought it might be a good idea to make a proper Mac port this season's freelance job, so I started a crowdfunding project to get Mac support into the mainline htop codebase: https://www.bountysource.com/teams/htop/fundraiser Contributions and spreading the word are most welcome! Thank you all, hope I'll be able to improve the tool for Mac users. (And apologies if it's not an appropriate forum!) Thanks! -- Hisham http://hisham.hm/htop/ _______________________________________________ macports-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.macosforge.org/mailman/listinfo/macports-users
