Yes, of course - and I tried to remove both
~/Library/Preferences/KDE/share/config/akonadiconsolerc and
~/.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc . Since I removed the former, akonadiconsole
no longer gets beyond the initial window alerting the user to the fact it's a
development app.

I also tried to remove the ~/Library/Preferences/KDE/share/apps/messageviewer
directory altogether - and guess what,
~/Library/Preferences/KDE/share/apps/messageviewer/themes was recreated. On OS
X as well as on my Linux installs (which have KDE 4.12 and KDE 4.13) the themes
directories in question are empty.

Googling the error I get some stale results, and the impression it's (more)
common in the 4.12 -> 4.13 update ... but that cannot be the issue here.

R.
